About
Vanessa Lynn
A Houston-based writer who came to this novel the long way around.
Vanessa Lynn writes from the space between what is spoken and what is carried in silence, the emotional weight of unspoken hard truths that shape us long before we have words for them. Her work is grounded in a background spanning political science, economics, theology, and philosophy, disciplines that taught her to sit with contradiction rather than resolve it too quickly.
Her writing is shaped by faith, resilience, sobriety, and the hard-earned belief that the stories worth telling are the ones that cost you something.
Vanessa lives in Houston, Texas, where she balances running several businesses with the slower, more exacting work of storytelling. Through the Eyes of My Unborn Child is her debut novel, a meditation on motherhood, identity, and inheritance. She is currently at work on her second novel, On the Other End, which explores agency and choice, who we love, and why.
She lives with her husband, a veteran, and writes from the belief that fiction is one of the places where truth can be told slant.
